I wonder what questions you have that are unanswered at the moment? How will I be able to afford my energy bills this Winter? Can I trust politicians? Could England’s men win the world cup this year? We all have questions and some of the most fundamental ones we all have relate to why we are here and the meaning of life.
Alpha is an opportunity to explore life’s big questions together in an open, informal environment. Last year, approximately 30,000 churches and organisations ran Alpha with over 1.3 million participants. Alpha is a series of interactive sessions taking the form of a free meal in the church hall, a short video, followed by a group discussion that explores the basics of the Christian faith. The episodes address questions such as Why and how do I pray? How does God guide us? and Does God heal today? Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to spark conversation and reflection.
St John’s church will be running the Alpha course on Tuesday evenings throughout the autumn term, starting on 11th October.
Although we do not confess to holding all of the answers, we hope that we are able to create an environment in which anyone can ask any question without fear of judgement or embarrassment.
