Mark’s Monday Message

Mark’s Monday Message

Happy Mondays all!
As you will be aware, next week is Holy Week and so we will be holding a number of events in order to mark it in a typical St Johns way.

On Monday (25th) you can join us for Morning Prayer in the church hall at 9am. (Bring a device with the ‘Daily Prayer’ app if you would like to join in with the liturgy and readings).

On Maundy Thursday we will be holding a Passion play reading in the hall from 6pm. We have a script produced by Riding Lights and will be reading it through ‘In the round’ as we eat a simple meal which we will provide. Sign on the church calendar on the website https://stjohnsbbh.org.uk/whats-on/  or email Sarah by this Friday and we will email you the script so you can choose your part (or parts). The evening will be an informal and yet meaningful reflection on Jesus’ final week on earth. No acting is required!

On Good Friday at 9am in the church there will be a service of reflection on Jesus’ final words on the cross which will feature a string quartet (led by Rachel) playing Haydn’s ‘Seven Last Words’ written specifically for Good Friday. Each piece will be preceded by the bible reading containing the relevant word(s) and a sonnet written by Hugo Ellis, reflecting further on Jesus’ words.

Following this at 11:15am there will be an HCT (Horsham Churches Together) combined service at the bandstand in the Carfax, Horsham. Kath Jones from Connect Southwater Community Church will be speaking, and the musicians from Trafalgar Road Baptist Church will be leading the songs.

On Easter Sunday, we will have our usual two services at 8:30am and 10:30am looking at how the resurrection of Jesus turns our weeping into joy!

I hope you can find time to join us

Mark
