Happy Monday all!
Plans are moving fairly swiftly with regards to our church’s 60th Anniversary week and so I wanted to let you know what we will have in store so that you can save the dates and offer to help out!
Monday 30th October – Eco-themed Dance Evening
Hosted by St John’s Eco-group this will involve 3 performances of dance in the church and a showcase of local initiatives related to sustainability and wellbeing.
Tuesday 31st October – All Hallows Eve Drop-In Café
On the night when so many local children and their parents will be walking past our building – an opportunity to bless them with free drinks and fun activities.
Wednesday 1st November – Duggie Dug Dug (Doug Horley) Light Party
A praise party, aimed at primary school aged children. We will need lots of volunteers to welcome and steward this event.
Thursday 2nd November – Selah! A recital of recorder music with Lou Bradbury
A solo programme of words and music inspired by the psalms and poems. 17th-18th century music and contemporary works using delays and loop pedal. 40 minutes of time to pause and reflect.
Friday 3rd November – An evening of electric and acoustic music
An opportunity to showcase local bands and solo artists playing a range of music from rock to folk.
Saturday 4th November – HPP Words and Music
An evening of spoken word and classical music performed by Horsham Performers Platform
Sunday 5th November – All Together Sunday Worship
Expect a few flashes and bangs (well it is Guy Fawkes Night!) as Fiona will unleash some of her arsenal of chemical reactions during our 10:30 service.
There will hopefully be a permanent display in the hall for the entire week of photographs of the church and BBH over the past 60 years (an appeal will be made in the next village magazine to collate these) along with recorded memories from the period and a showcase of future plans for the church building and renewal project. These will act as a centrepiece to the week’s activities. If you have photos, particularly ones dating back a while, please let us have them as soon as possible so we can begin collating them and planning how to display them. Again, anyone who will be willing to assist in this, please let me know.
There will also be Ealy Bird Café running every morning throughout the week in the church hall and the possibility of other activities to be added (possible breakfast on the Saturday and a 5K ‘Fun’ Run from BBH to CH and back along the Downs Link at 12pm on the Sunday – provided we get the appropriate permission.)
We cannot run these events without your help so please get in touch with your availability to help steward, supervise, setup/set down, washup, cook, run a bar.
Exciting times!
Mark
