HORSHAM SHINES

Horsham Churches Together invites everyone to spread a little joy this Christmas by making stars to display in windows during Advent

For many people, Christmas will look different this year. It will be hard for friends and families to meet up, and some of us may even find ourselves in isolation or quarantine during a season which usually brings people together. This why Horsham Churches Together wants to try and spread a little joy, and remind people they are not alone.

From Advent Sunday on 29th November, help brighten every street by making a star to display in your window. It can be as big or small as you like, and you can use anything you have handy: paints, crayons, lights, glitter… the limit is your imagination!

The symbol of a star has been chosen because for Christians it reminds us of the star that the wise men followed to find the baby Jesus, who came to bring joy to the world. We hope Horsham Churches Together that looking at these stars will bring light and hope to all. Let’s make HORSHAM SHINE! #HorshamShines2020

Please find attached:

1) Main poster to display as you wish / use on social media

2) A ‘We are supporting’ flyer to offer shops / schools / churches / businesses to display in their windows alongside a star

LIVING ADVENT CALENDAR 2020

Being created by One Good Friday Liverpool and other One Good Friday locations. Each day, a window opens to reveal a part of the Christmas Story – drama, poems, songs, story-telling and more. One Good Friday Horsham is planning some content for some of the windows – watch this space!

CAROL SINGING – there are three options:

• Wednesday 16th December 6pm, BBC Radio Sussex

https://www.doorstepcarols.co.uk/is-your-area-involved-/sussexhttps://www.doorstepcarols.co.uk/Documents/sussex%20invite.pdf

• Sunday 20th December 5.30pm, Premier Christian Radio https://www.facebook.com/CarolsOnTheDoorstep

• Thursday 24th December 6pm, BBC Sounds

https://www.doorstepcarols.co.uk/is-your-area-involved-/sussexhttps://www.doorstepcarols.co.uk/Documents/sussex%20invite.pdf

In all three cases, the idea is to download and print the carol sheet and invitation, drop an invite through your neighbours’ doors inviting them to join you, tune in to the radio station, and sing along to the carols played. If you have a Care Home nearby why not pop the poster and some carol sheets in and suggest they join in at the same time (inside of course!). How lovely for them to feel they are singing at the same time as their community and their family in other areas.
