GIVE A CHILD A HOME, FOSTER WITH WEST SUSSEX

West Sussex County Council is always looking for more people to come forward and welcome children in care into their homes, this includes asylum seeking and refugee children and young people; for whom we have a constant and on-going need for family based care provision.

Due to the recent arrival of over 400 asylum seekers in the Kent area, that need has increased. As Kent manages these arrivals, they are looking to neighbouring authorities to help find homes for the young people that have arrived without family. These young people will have likely faced a long and dangerous journey and may have not even known where they were heading after fleeing their home country to escape violence, persecution, war, detention, climate change, terrorism or the disappearance of family. We expect a lot of these young people to be teenagers around the age of 15 and above.

We’re looking for people who have the space in their home, and their heart to provide a safe and loving environment for them to reach their full potential. We ask that you have:
• a spare room
• experience with children
• the want to change the life of a child or young person
• a desire to embrace and learn about new cultures and integrate this into your daily life

We have a dedicated Advanced Practitioner who is happy to have early stage discussions with you about any questions you may have including time commitments and payment. For more information on fostering please call 033 022 27775 to speak to the team or visit http://www.westsussex.gov.uk/UASC
