The Space Project

The Space Project is a church based community arts venture near Horsham in West Sussex with a particular focus on drama and live theatre. The project aims to encourage and direct the vigorous artistic energy of the congregation and to share the fruits of this with the wider community. It is currently supported by the Diocese of Chichester.

It has evolved from a rich performing arts tradition within the worshipping community of St. John’s Church and was established under the direction of local drama teacher Hugo Ellis in 2003.

The Space Project has three main objectives:
  • To inspire and culturally enrich the general public, by providing and presenting community arts events, which are affordable and accessible to a wide cross-section of society.
  • To teach train and encourage aspiring artists of any age or ability by facilitating their creative development, through the provision of workshops, dramatic productions, materials and appropriate courses in the arts, for example.
  • To work within the Christian Church, and throughout the multi-faith community to foster a creative engagement with the Christian Gospel.

Melodies for March

A musical soiree with the Ellis family
7.45pm, 6th March, St John’s Church, Broadbridge Heath

Lo, the winter is past:
The rain is over and gone
The flowers appear on the earth,
The time of singing is come.

Celebrate the start of spring with Hugo, Rachel, Charlotte
and Katy Ellis as they share some music for March drawn from
their current studies for violin, cello, piano and voice.

Cast aside the chilly mantle of winter and let songs and instrumental
selections from the classical, folk and musical theatre repertoire
stir your hearts with melodies for the new season.

The concert marks the recent formation of The Space Arts Trust as a
registered charity and all proceeds from the evening will go to
promoting drama and music for all in our local community.
